From Vancouver take a beautiful scenic drive up the Sunshine Coast. Take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale and stop in Gibsons. You will find Molly's Reach, the restaurant from the famous TV series "The Beachcombers". Continue up the coast and enjoy the picturesque waterfront. Take a second ferry from Earls Cove to Saltery Bay and you are at the Upper Sunshine Coast. The entire trip from downtown Vancouver to Powell River takes about 5.5 hours.
Coming from Vancouver Island you take the ferry at Little River in Comox. The passage takes one hour and 15 minutes and the ferry dock is only a few seconds from the downtown core of Powell River.

On the Sunshine Coast, the ferry ride is a destination all on
its own
Pacific Coastal Airlines flies directly from the South Terminal in Vancouver to the Powell River Municipal Airport.

Malaspina Coach Lines (Tel. 1-877-227-8287).
Comox is a great gateway to the Sunshine Coast either for travelers already on Vancouver Island or coming from areas further east.
WestJet [www.westjet.com] and Air Canada [www.aircanada.com] (beginning August 2006) fly daily direct from Calgary to the Comox Airport [www.comoxairport.com].
Getting to the Sunshine Coast from there is easy: fly, drive or hop on a bus. A regular bus service [www.busonline.ca] stops at the airport and carries on to the BC Ferries Powell River Ferry Terminal [www.bcferries.com] at Little River. The 80-minute ferry ride departs four times a day, year round. Rent a car at the Comox Airport and make the short drive to the ferry terminal yourself. Or jump on a charter flight at the Courtenay Flight Centre [www.courtenayflightcentre.com] for a short and scenic soar across the Strait of Georgia to several spots on the Lower and Upper Sunshine Coast.
Taking the ferry from Comox to Powell River is part of the BC Ferries Circle Route. The scenic 80-minute motor across the Strait of Georgia is not to be missed with views of both the Coast Range and Vancouver Island Mountains and the opportunity to see marine life in the waters nearby. The Little River Ferry Terminal is a 15-minute drive from Courtenay and Comox and is serviced by the municipal bus service [www.busonline.ca].
