SALTERY BAY MERMAID PROVINCIAL PARK

This wonderful tourist attraction is located near the Saltery Bay ferry terminal. Saltery Bay is a provincial campground with a beautiful nature trail and a pathway that leads to a small island that is an ideal place for swimmers at high tide and beachcombers at low tide. This unique place also features an excellent shore dive for a great way to observe the exquisite sea life and to view the famous Emerald Princess. This bronze sculpture is nine feet high and is submerged sixty feet below the surface. The park also includes showers for rinsing diving equipment. This location is truly extraordinary.

PALM BEACH

Full of fun in the sun, this beach is located between Powell River and Saltery Bay in an area known as Lang Bay. It features a beautiful sandy beach with a large playing field for sports like soccer and baseball. There are public washrooms, a small playground for the little ones and a covered picnic area. Also this beach is known for its Annual Music Festival. This outstanding event provides its visitors with world class entertainment, mouth-watering food and endless shopping at all booths! To reach this marvelous destination from the parking lot, you walk down a short hill to the picnic area then across a field that is about the same size as a baseball field then enjoy a beach suitable to palm trees swaying in the breeze.

WILLINGDON BEACH

One of Powell River's finest beaches located near the center of town adjacent to the municipal campground. It features a geautiful sandy beach, water park, children's playground, fishing pier, picnic areas, a creek and a spawning channel, all in a natural park setting. It also includes a washroom facility and small restaurant where you can get an ice cream cone to enjoy the day. Right across from the beach and campground is the Historical Museum and the Mini Golf Course. Also for fitness lovers there are two nature trails, one that leads up to our wonderful recreation complex where you could enjoy a swim in our Olympic size pool, a sauna or whirlpool, skate or play hockey in one of the two arenas, attend a live theatre performance at the Evergreen Theatre, attend a meeting in one of the many meeting rooms, play horseshoes, skateboard or watch one of the many sports taking place.

The Willingdon Beach Nature Trail goes along the waterfront where there are old logging artifacts for you to look at, or the kids can climb in. There is also a Forestry Museum on the beach that shows how the beach area used to look back in the early 1900s.

MOWAT BAY

Mowat Bay is situated on beautiful Powell lake, where the sun always shines. It's a perfect beach for families and friends. Mowat Bay provides visitors with a boat launching area, children's playground, clear waters, washroom facilities, large grass area for sun bathing, and a large public parking area.

GIBSON'S BEACH

This beach is located on the highway approximately 12 km from the centre of town and kilometre on the dirt road to the beach brings you to a grassy picnic area situated above the beach overlooking Malaspina Strait. Below you can enjoy a quiet, uncrowded beach with some sandy and rocky areas. Great for beachcombing and looking for sea creatures. There is also a boat launch at Gibsons Beach.

SAVARY ISLAND

Known for its "South Sea" flavor, this phenomenal natural attraction is five miles long and averages half a mile wide. It is surrounded by kilometres of gorgeous white sandy beaches and crystal blue warm waters. Truly a one in a million "tropical" island on the BC Coast and only one mile from the mainland. To get to this Caribbean-like island from Powell River, one must drive to Lund and take a fifteen-minute water taxi ride that costs less than $10 one way. The ocean is among the warmest in the Pacific Northwest, at 22 degrees Celsius (how warm is that?). It is known for its local seafood and friendly islanders. Savary Island is a unique and exquisite tourist attraction that is sure to please anyone who visits it.

SHELTER POINT, TEXADA ISLAND

It provides visitors with a pebble beach, and picnic areas that front the beach. The rocky and sandy beach makes it a good place for clam digging and oyster picking.
