Reflection of Mt. Alfred

View snapshots of Crater Lakes

Content courtesy of Tourism Powell River

The drive via Goat Main takes about two hours, past Goat Lake and up the Eldred River Valley. At km 60 you turn right up D-Branch until you come to a fork. Continue on to the right, you are travelling on D-200 Branch now. Turn right up the hill (4 Wheel Drive only!), you are gaining elevation very fast. Great views along the way, keep on going until the last turn to the right. At this point Mt. Alfred is in front of you, turn right and drive to the Big Cross Ditch. You can not go any further.

The well marked trail head is to your left, going through a logging slush. Soon you will be amongst the trees and after a 25 minute hike, you arrive at Little Crater Lake. The trail is well marked between Little and Big Crater lake, after that you are on your own.

Happy hiking and enjoy!
Walter Kubany
